The Springs Brew Tour: Sampling Colorado’s Craft Scene

With new micro-breweries popping up in every town and millions buying home-brewing kits, craft beer is officially a national phenomenon that’s here to stay. But Colorado natives have always had a craft-brewing tradition, and the state has one of the highest percentages of breweries per capita.

The Springs Brew Tour takes advantage of that fact. You don’t have to go all the way to Denver or Boulder to enjoy some of the finest craft breweries in the country, let alone the Rocky Mountain Region. Every Sunday at 1 PM, up to a dozen beer enthusiasts meet for four hours of ample samples, food pairing lessons and behind-the-scenes brewery tours at several different facilities.

The fun begins at Trinity Brewing Company, a craft beer house and bar that was constructed almost completely out of recycled materials. The brewers at Trinity go out of their way to get ingredients from local farms, so you’ll be supporting the community and the planet at the same time.

Afterwards, guides transport guests to Colorado Mountain Brewing Company, a new addition to the tour itinerary. All the pairings you’ll taste come from their full lunch and dinner menu. Next up is Pikes Peak Brewing Co., another sustainable company that uses reclaimed wood and donates used barley to local farmers for feed.

The last two breweries on the tour are Phantom Cannon Brewing Company, where you can tour their newly expanded brewing center, and Red Leg Brewing Company, which honors military heroes with high-quality beer and even offers food from the Gypsy Pizzeria food truck.

Twenty miles north of Colorado Springs, Warrior Insurance offers personal insurance and life insurance for the whole surrounding area. The independent, Monument-based agency can help you find the best life term insurance coverage for your family.
