Spring Maintenance Tips To Perform While Getting Used To Daylight Savings Time Changes

Most people are still trying to get used to Daylight Savings Time and losing an hour to their day. Yet they also have lots to look forward to with the coming of spring.

Longer days and warmer temperatures await. People can also start getting their yearly spring maintenance done for their home so they can enjoy the great outdoors more. Some common maintenance tips you may want to complete this year:

Testing smoke alarms and CO detectors. You might have already heard the chirps starting from the smoke detectors as the batteries begin to die. While changing out the batteries, you should also test the smoke detector and CO detectors to make sure they are in good working order.

Perform appliance maintenance. You should get spring maintenance on your furnace and air conditioning unit at this time. It is also a good idea to have all the filters changed for both HVAC systems as well as for your refrigerator, dishwasher, air purifiers and vacuums. Don’t forget to drain the water heater to flush out the built-up sediment.

Get rid of old medication. Some medications can actually be harmful to you if they are taken after the expiration date. They also start to lose their effectiveness. Look at the dates on all prescription and over-the-counter medications in the house and toss anything old away.
