Make The Right Choice For Individual Health Insurance

Wednesday, August 13th, 2014

Health insurance is important but the buying process can be a bit stressful. When choosing individual health insurance there are many factors to consider. These five tips can help you find the best type of health insurance for your needs.

  • Know how healthy you are. If you visit the hospital often and have a series of prescriptions you may want to invest in a higher premium plan. If you feel as if you are generally a healthy individual you can opt for a more affordable plan.
  • Think about the type of doctors you and your family prefer. HMO comes with a basic plan, PPO provide doctors outside of the network, and a POS is a mixture of the two.
  • See if the price is right for you. The monthly premium and annual deductible are both huge deciding factors of price. It also may help to see if prescriptions are covered with your plan.

Health Coverage for Small Businesses

Wednesday, July 2nd, 2014

With recent Health Care Reform, many business owners have been left confused and unsure of the benefits and disadvantages of this new health insurance. In order to make an informed decision about the health care you provide for your employees, you must understand how the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act works.

Small businesses that provide their employees with health insurance are offered a tax credit. In order to qualify for the tax credit, you must have an average annual wages total of less than $50,000 and contribute at least 50% of those wages toward employee health insurance premiums. In order for a small business to receive tax credits, they must also have fewer than 35 full-time employees.

When deciding what coverage you would like to offer your employees, it is best to speak with an expert first. each business requires a unique program for their health insurance benefits that needs to be carefully planned out. Offering employee benefits is not only advantageous to the employees, but the employer as well.

Warrior Insurance and Services Group is available to answer any and all of your questions regarding offering health coverage for the employees of your small business. Contact us today to speak with one of our experienced agents.

Affordable Care Acts Effect on Medicare

Wednesday, April 17th, 2013

With all the conversation regarding the Affordable Care Act and how it will affect health insurance coverage for millions of Americans, it is sometimes difficult to determine what changes (if any) will be seen for those receiving Medicare benefits. In fact, the upcoming changes are expected to save Medicare recipients quite a bit in out-of-pocket expenses.

The savings for Medicare recipients is expected to happen in several ways. First, preventive care services will now be offered to seniors, free of charge, saving potentially thousands of dollars per year and helping to detect any challenges as quickly as possible. Next, the cost of prescription medication will be significantly reduced under the Affordable Care Act. This change alone could save a Medicare recipient thousands of dollars, especially for those seniors who require several different prescriptions monthly or whose treatments are especially costly.

Next, the rates of increase for physician’s premiums (Medicare Part B) and for co-payments and co-insurance payments (Medicare Parts A & B) are expected to be much lower under the Affordable Care Act than it would traditionally be without the new law. Finally, under the new plan, Medicare is expected to operate much more efficiently, reducing waste, fraud and other abuses of this beneficial program. Savings from this type of waste is also expected to be passed on to Medicare beneficiaries as well.

Medicare and Medicaid: What’s the Difference?

Friday, April 12th, 2013

Medicare and Medicaid are both health insurance programs. However, they are independent of one another and equally involve their own requirements and stipulations. Warrior Insurance, a premium health insurance provider, offers an explanation of these two types of health insurance coverage.

Medicare is health insurance for the elderly. Most individuals over the age of 65 are eligible for this program, as well as those with kidney failure and who are on Social Security disability. Medicare is based on entitlement based on the Social Security taxed paid in by an individual or their spouse. The goal of Medicare is to provide supplemental insurance coverage for individuals in their retirement age who are more likely to have substantial medical payments.

Medicaid is offered to those who meet low-income requirements; anyone who meets these requirements regardless of age may qualify for this insurance. Each state has its own rules and programs associated with Medicaid. Enrollment is available at social welfare, social services and department of of human services offices.

If you have questions regarding your eligibility to the Medicare or Medicaid programs, please contact Warrior Insurance for more information. Your health insurance professionals at Warrior Insurance can provide you with guidance in choosing the appropriate coverage for your situation.
